fram double gaurd filter

i was way over due for an oil change and i had a long trip planned so i wanted to change my oil asap. discount auto parts was closed so my only option walmart. at walmart all the oil filters there were fram. i was like damn i didnt want to use fram in my car. but i had to. so i bought the most expensive one i could find hoping it would be better quality then most fram filters. the one i bought was the fram double gaurd filter. anybody know much about this filter or cut it open?????? i was just curious since i have it in my car and i have no clue about it.

I have used the fram double gaurd filter and the normal fram and Ive never had a problem. Ive stopped using the double guard since I dont see any benefit since I change the filter every time I change the oil. Why dont you like fram filters?

its not that i dont like fram. its just that everybody says that fram isnt good quality at all. i dont have much experience with fram. i always use the napa silver filter. it wasnt very expensive but i knew that napa is good quality.

i also change the filter everytime i change the oil. i was just curious about this filter.

A while back there was a post here on the org and the doubleguard was the same filter with a heavier casing to make it appear of better quality. Wal-Marts brand of filters (SuperTech) are made by Champion and would have been a much better choice. 1 time isn't going to hurt anything, but I wouldn't continue to use those filters.

Who DOESN'T change the filter when they change their oil. That's probably the worst thing you can do.

purorlator filters are good and I've never had an issue. mobil 1 is nice, but overpriced in my mind for 3K oil changes

I've dissected a couple Fram filters (and others) and I can honestly say that when compared to other brands I've looked at (even $3 AC filters) Frams are very cheaply constructed...less filtering material, cardboard end caps, poor internal seals, no anti-drainback in some models, etc. Although FRAM claims their filters meet OEM warranty requirements, I'm willing to pay a few dollars more for a higher quality filter.

I've used Fram filter in the last two oil change. Haven't had any problem or compliants about them. I would have used Nissan filter but I don't see any difference.

I'm using Nissan OEM filter. It was made in Japan. and it was seemed has much more holes inside than fram tough guard, that is very important for providing greater oil flow.

I just mail order 4-6 Nissan OEM filters and stock them. You can order them from some of the dealers that give discounts.

hmmm... I forgot. The invoice is at home. ~$3.8 each plus shipping. There are a list of dealers in the forums you can call to find out. Normally I order those together with some other items like oil drain plug washer since I read I am suppose to change it every other oil change, or fuel filter.
