Transmission Tune Up

Hey Maxima Owners, just need a little feed back
My cars coming up to 30k and it's due for a transmission tune -up. I called the dealer and they said that they have 2 types of transmission tune-ups. 1st is just draining the fluid and refilling it for $49.95. The second one is dropping the transmission tray, cleaning it, new filter and new tranny fluid and this would cost about $169.99. Which one should I get? Any replys would be helpful!!!

I would go with option 2. Its always a good thing to change the filter in addtion to the trans fluid. Think of it this way, the trans was new 30k ago, with all the clutches, and gears, bearings having really close tolerances. After 30k miles, everything had a change to break in and now you have a bunch of metal and clutch material floating around in the fluid, clogging the filter. Best to get it out.

If your mechanically inclined, you can do it yourself for ALOT less than the $169.00. Just get a Haynes manual or a FSM and the parts shouldn't run over $50 for everything.

Just a suggestion....thanks! Joe
