IMHO you don't have to many miles. You should be able to switch to Mobil 1 and either a Mobil 1 or K&N filter with no problems. Your motor is just getting broken in..........

Heh I have always run synthetic, in all my vehicles except my jeep cause she consumes oil. I have never had a problem with developing leaks. I have made the shift on cars with any where from 70,000 miles to 250,000 miles. I seafoam and flush my engines before switching to syn which has worked well so far.

You have been running a synthetic blend by running the mobil one stuff. If you don't have any leaks you should be fine.

It's cool to switch to synthetic, but once you go there there is no way back...

You should be fine switching now.

It's not true that you can't go back after going to syn. Mobil claims that you can switch back and forth to your heart's content and they are fully compatible with each other (syn and dino).

The advantage to syn is that it withstands age much, much better. It doesn't break down as normal oil does. Of course, you can't keep it in there forever, because even though the oil itself may be perfect thosuands of miles later, it's got a bunch of junk in it (metals and carbon by products), so it does need to be changed. But, it will go longer than conventional between oil changes, and due to its robustness it will also lubricate better, on a consistent basis. So, better engine wear (ie. less), and very minimally slightly better gas mileage (on the level of 1%, so not really worth mentioning).
