Heard from a random source that her mechanic told her tranny flush and fills are NOT good???? I hope this is not true because i had my tranny flushed and my coolant flushed over the weekend on my AE. Anyone know anything about this???

It's an old myth. It's good maintenance practice to have your transmission fluid flushed

 

It is also good to periodically drop the pan on the transmission and clean that out also. Not just a machine flush. There are bits of metal and gunk in the there that does not get cleaned out with a machine flush.

 

An old secret that many people don't know about is to pee in your tranny and run it a while prior to flushing it. This helps get the gunk that builds up inside the tranny. Also you want to crap in your radiator to help clean it out prior to flushing it. It works GREAT!

Fact of the matter is......

If you keep the tranny maintained properly (regularly scheduled flush & fills) and don't let the fluid get burned, then it's good for it.

If you drive 80k miles and try to flush it once the fluid turns black and the lines are gunked up, then you're very likely goign to have problems with it after you flush/fill it. In that case, it's best just to leave the old fluid in there and sell the car off.. as soon as you change it, the tranny is going to start leaking and having all kinds of weird issues when the dirt and sediments start breaking loose and clogging up the shift solenoids and the valve body.

AE's are POS now??? damn you coulda fooled me. you must have got a 2000 cause you couldnt afford an 01, let alone a ae. Look guys I only wanted to see if there was any truth to this, im new with the max thing still. guess you cant come here for answers.
