Seafoam Transmission Lube

Hey guys,

Was wondering if anyone has used the Seafoam Transmission lubricator on there 2000 Auto Max. Was wondering if there any side affects to using this, since Maxima transmissions are notorious. Besides I have 100,000 plus miles on my Max. Also if anyone has used anything else on there transmission and if it works.

Jake.

Its just a gussied up version of Berryman B-12 chemtool, chevron techron, blah blah blah....If you want something that really works, go get a MOC or Wurth induction cleaning kit. Lontar1 20 bucks says that if you come with me to my dealer and we run the petrochem clean on your car, it will blow black smoke to the ****ens....even if you run seafoam thru it twice. This stuff is just like that super lubricant that came out like 8 years ago, the one that claimed it could keep the car running with no oil in it. Its alot of hype, and the fad will pass. Sorry to blow up on you, but seeing all this garbage about the "miracle" seafoam irritates me.

PS: come out to the meets man, meet the rest of your orlando peeps.

Personally, I will rather flush the system and started using synthetic ATF like Redline, Mobil 1 or Amsoil.

One time I went to this lube store to do a tranny fluid change, and the guy tried to add some additives, claiming it will lube the tranny and stop leaks. Needless to say, I stop him! I told him my car has no problem, and I don't need that. He gave me the bottle, saying I already paid for it as it was include the charge, I threw it into the trash can.

I'm not dissin' the Seafoam!

I've been running it in my tank and it definitely smooth out the idle. But I've used Chemtool and Techtron and they're good also.

You just said it, they are notorious, and at 100k, why risk it? Other than maybe Lubegard products, I wouldn't pour anything but ATF in a tranny.

The Seafoam tranny lube is supposed to do what the name says, lube the components of the tranny. You add it, drive it to switch a few gears and drain. Then you add new tranny fluid. I don't see how this stuff can mess up anything.

Hmm... by maybe freeing up crap from a tranny with 100k miles that may get trapped in the mesh filter and causing oil starvation. I guess it all depends on the maintenance history of the tranny... I don't know, I would rather do preventive maintenance (frequent ATF changes) than using a solvent in a tranny.
