draining antifreeze procedure question

The FSM says there's 2 drain plugs on the engine block, one on each side of the block. TSB says for routine antifreeze change, there's no need to drain the block, just the radiator.

I was wondering why I can't find any mention of these 2 plugs in any how-to writeups on .org? Wouldn't it simplify the flushing procedure necessary to change over to silicate-free antifreeze?

Yes, it would IMHO because you'd be getting more of the old fluid out by pulling the two plugs. However, they are a PITA to reach so most people just do more flushing steps. On my VE I pulled the plugs and 7qts came out!!

Hmm... i think VQ has something like 9qts... Not looking forward to the "flood" when I remove the plugs. haha.
Alright, Imma look for the 2 plugs this weekend. What kinda sealer should I use when re-installing?
