I got 107k miles when I got the ATF (ex)changed at Jiffy Lube. Everything is normal, but the transmission shifts are smoother than before. I am not sure what ATF the Jiffy Lube guys put it but I'll go for Mobil or Redline next time when I get it done ...

Ya, do a flush and fill and I would highly suggest using either Mobil 1 or Amsoil synthetic ATF. You will need somewhere between 10-12 quarts to do a full flush and it is well worth the money. There will be an immediate difference in shift smoothness and your tranny will run much cooler. If you are lookin for a great price on Amsoil ATF, pm talking horse and he can get you a good deal.

I did my 94 with around 150K miles, used cheap ATF and had no problems.

LOL no. Do the flush now considering a new tranny will cost you several times more than the flush.

Maybe a drain-n-fill now and a complete flush-n-fill after say 15k miles helps ?!?

You don't need anything with synthetic.....but if you feel like you must, Lubeguard is a decent product.

I would suggest dropping the pan and cleaning that out too. Usually that is why the tranny goes when you flush it with high miles. The detergents in the new ATF wash all the crap up and run it through the tranny. It's not that hard, and you'll be amazed at how dirty it is. I think AMSOIL has a document on their website talking about this subject. They say that with all these machine flushers nowadays, no one ever drops the pan to clean out the sludge and clean the magnets off anymore. Just read the sticky on ATF flushing to find out how to do it.

I would definitely suggest switching over to AMSOIL.

synthetic atf not only lasts longer, but has a wider temperature range that it will operate properly over.
