Tranny Flush/????
Tranny Flush/????
I have 85000 miles on the car and a VB mod done to the tranny, I bought the car with 75000 miles on it. Im not sure if i should change the tranny fluid or not. Should i do a flush or not i feel a lil more comfortable doing a drain and fill actually. I also wanna do it before i hit 100,000 miles please help thanks
1)warm up the car to operating temp
2)pull the dip stick out
3)wipe it with a clean (perferably white)lint free rag or bounty paper
4)place the dip stick all the way till its in place, and pull it out again. place the dip stick over a clean area on the rag and examine the color and smell of the fluid... if it looks brown, its no good. if it contains any metal peices, frictional materials, or looks or smells burnt, its not good. wipe clean, insert dip stick back in place, go online and let me know.
normally, transmission fluid should be changed every 30,000 miles.. and if im not mistaken every 2 years, but should still be changed every year to be safe

as for the synthetic, i have no clue. i actually didn't hear about anybody using synthetic oil in the transmission. anyway, i think it would be best for you to use the recommended ATF in your owners manual, or FSM.
btw - next time you check your tranny fluid, its recommended that while you hold the brake, move your shifter through all your available gears to get the tranny fluid goin more. i guess it gives a more accurate reading of the level. sorry, i didnt mention it before.
