GC in VQ

I've heard a lot of good things about 0w-30 German Castrol Syntec. Do you think it'll will work well with the VQ30DE? Do they even make the German Castrol anymore?

Guess what, there are 17 threads in the lube and fluid section about the german castrol oil, making your thread pointless. If it works in other cars WHY wouldn't it work in ours?

That 2nd thread states nothing whatsoever about German Castrol.

If you want to know more about GC go to www.bobistheoilguy.com where it is discussed fully.

OCI = oil change interval ----> the distance between oil changes. A secondary measure of OCI would be days/months between oil changes.

Join bobistheoilguy.com (BITOG) and you will learn all there is to know about oil, filter, additives, air filters etc. from some 8,000 members, many of whom are quite knowledgeable.

I only recently joined. I suspect a reasonable cutoff would be somewhere north of 100K, but likely below 140K, say 110 - 120, but I'm not sure. It also depends if you have any leaks. These leaks can often be stopped by using AutoRX. You can read all about that product on BITOG as well.

I agree here, although there is a memeber on here who switched over at 195k without a single problem. There are a few questions you must ask yourself before making the switch, first do you have any small leaks? if so be ready for them to get bigger and need fixing. seccond is it worth it to you (Ie if a car had 160k on it is it worth it go to synthetic, as it is already fairly far into its life? theres a few other things to consider as well.
