Should I switch to synthetic oil

I've been using the OEM filter and nissan oil from day one. Now I have 32500 in the dash and I'm wondering should I switch to a synthetic oil or is it to late. Do I just tell the shop to switch it or what?

How have you been using Nissan oil? If you mean the dealer has done your oil changes, they buy whatever is cheapest in bulk. Usually it's either Penzoil or Quaker State.

Yes I have been using nissans oil, should I stop? I always go to nissan for my oil changes but today is the first day I'm going somewhere else. I'm buying a mobil 1 filter and take it to a oil change place.

Then tell them to switch you to Mobil 1 5W-30 synthetic oil. You have bought a good oil filter, so don't use it with crappy oil.

By the way, did you service your car at 30K. That should have been about the time the car last had an oil change.

I didn't service the car at 30k since I had a tranny flush and other work done because of hard tranny shifting. So the tech said that everything that would be done in that service was performed.

Either buy some Mobil 1 or Amsoil along with the M1 filter and you should be very happy.

High Milage switch over. Good or Bad?

I bought my maxima with 142,000 miles. In one month It does not burn any oil. Level is exactly on the same spot on dipstick everytwo days when I check it. Underneath there is just oily residue(have to expect some) on engine bottom no drips or anything and top half is very dry. I would like to start useing Mobile1 sythetic 10w-30. I live in the bay area in california. What do you think?

Also is there any downsides to useing a fram or k&n filter. I kinda prefer allied signal(fram and autolite) products. Is there a larger capacity filter availabe as well?
