OEM Filter
I read somewhere on BITOG that the 9E000 filter does not have a silicon ADBV. is this a big negative? if so, what is a better filter? I know M1 are supposed to be good - but are the flat o ring gaskets as good as the round ones on the 9E000? the flat ones remind me of Fram filters...
I can't help you with respect to the silicon ADBV. I bought two OEM filters (15208-9E000) awhile ago to use for my AutoRX clean and rinse and have no qualms about using them. kcryan, a fellow .orger and BITOG member, prefers Purolator PureOne which are available where I live but cost a lot more than OEM. I understand they are cheaper than OEM in the US.
Alternatively, you might want to consider WIX or Napa Gold, but I would avoid Fram oil filters.
I haven't noticed any complaints about OEM oil filters on the .org.

haha bobo beat me too it. I have used the OEM, the M1, and the PureOne. I have not had a problem with the gasket, just be sure to clean off the mating surface before you install it.
Overall, i dont use the OEM's anymore not bad filters, but i think there are better ones.
M1 filters are all the allante sees, they are the best, but there pricey. the I30 gets them here and there.
My favorite though as was said are the pureones, for the price they cant be beat. my only suggestion would be not to run em for more than 5k miles.
Im not sure how much the OEMs are nowdays, the pureones are ~$6 but easily go down to 4 or 5 if you look for coupons

Im not to sure about the OEM's, they can probally do 5k, but id run them for 3k or 4k and change them, even if you dont change your oil. with XD-3, and mabye a little Lc you should be able to go much more than 5k, oboviously driving style dependant, I should go more than 5k but im so overprotective. id say pick a milage and change the filter midway through it.
