How is it working out for ya? where are you in your stages?
I have only 100 miles into the first cleaning phase and I swear my car is more responsive. My car feels like it has more torque. I am getting very excited about the prospect of this product.

I have completed the 1,500 mile clean phase and am about 1,700 miles (out of 2,000) into the rinse phase. My engine is so quiet I literally can not hear it at idle and the car seems more responsive.

I am switching to synthetic oil for the first time following completion of the rinse phase.

I endorse AutoRX!

I just finished the clean phase on my 1993 Mercury Sable with 170,000 miles. So far:

1)Engine is much quieter
2)Throttle response is better
3)Leaks got worse (expected)
4)Smoking got worse (expected)
5)Head gasked leak got worse (expected)

I'm about 40 miles into the rinse phase and the leaking/smoking has sub-sided. Will probably do another dose this summer.

Because all the sludge keeping the leaks closed was removed, after ARX removes the sludge the leaks will open up. Not a case for every engine though

I used ARX, did the high-mileage routine (2 cylces, 1500 mile cleaning and 2000 mile rinse for each cycle).

Don't notice anything different ... didn't do squat for the varnish ... but it's known that it doesn't work well on varnish on aluminum blocks...

It won't prevent leaks... if you have a leak that is being masked by sludge filling it in, ARX may wash away the sludge and so the leak will show up. Similar to the effects of switching to synthetic at a high mileage.

Eventually ARX is supposed to soften rubber gaskets, etc. helping them seal better, so the leak that it made evident, can sometimes disappear, since the leaking gasket starts to seal better after being softened.

You should do the AutoRX treatments back to back and not wait for the summer.

if u have a leak it can get worth w/ auto-rx treatment or auto-rx can fix it by lubricating seals

If there is a leak, if it's severe, fix it, otherwise leave it alone. Pretty simple.

Use an OEM filter - can't beat it for 5 bucks a piece. You want to use a good filter to catch any crud the ARX loosens/dissolves.

OK, so I've checked out BITOG, I've looked at the auto-rx website... I think I'm going to do it.

They recommend 2 applications for cars over 100,000 miles... Would this be sufficient for cars over a quarter million miles also? Should I just increase the maintenace dose to 3oz as recommended for high-sludge engines? Or should I repeat the whole cleaning process after a 10 or 20 thousand miles?

I looked and I really couldn't find any testimonials for cars with >250,000mi

In your case, you should do the AutoRX applications back to back. Following the 2 AutoRX clean and rinse phases, you may want to consider the maintenance dose. Alternatively, look into LubeControl LC20 on BITOG or www.lubecontrol.com

I haven't used LC before and am just finishing up my inital AutoRX rinse phase, then switching to synthetic oil. I may consider LC after I am through my first synthetic oil OCI.

I've just bough Castrol GTX to use during the rinse cycle, but than it occured to me: isn't it better to use the oil that does not have any additives?

Can anyone comment on this? Is it better for me to return Castrol and get some cheep oil with fewer additives?

Stay with the Castrol GTX. It's a good quality oil and is only going to be in there for 1,500 miles. I ended up using Pennzoil 5w30 for the first time for my rinse phase and have now switched over to synthetic oil for the first time at 63K (Esso XD3 Extra, 0w30, PAO).
