hey guys. I just had my tranny flushed @120K, (changed transfluid at 70K) with regular ATF. does the royal purple really make a differnce for the tranny. Last year in the lab (working on masters in engineering), we tested royal purple oil vs. castrol, mobile 1, and the others and royal purple died early in the test. Castrol and Mobile 1 were at the top with Moble 1 beating Castrol (but it was so close it was negligable). I have heard from others that the tranny fluid is really good.
thanks

Just flushed the tranny today, don't think it's ever been done (bought it used ) and it's got 119K on it. Used Mobil 1 syn, and it shifts like dream now. It rules having the forum's how-to links!

i drained it and refilled it twice in a row with a 15 minute car run in between so it would mix with the torque converter and then drove on it for 1k miles and did the 3rd drop and refill

royal purple synthetic ATF which is now $9 a quart... 15 quarts total ... about 4.5-5.0 per drop and refill so it was like $120-$130 .. for every 60k miles and fluid this good... well worth it. we spend that much on an intake dont we? i bet you feel better after the fluid then after the intake

Remember, just because the Royal Purple shifts good now doesn't mean that it will stand up for 60K or even 30K. I don't think RP has been out long enough to have decent real world results. I would stick with proven oils until there is more research and real world experience.
