Tranny Flush = Cold shift problems?

Morning all. I just got my car back from the dealership for basically a tuneup ('00 max, auto, 82k miles). I had them do the plugs, belts, tranny flush, coolant, oil, tire rotation. Engine purrs like a kitten now i might add. Anyhow, about 22k ago, the tranny totally failed. Had it replaced with a new one under powertrain warranty. Has been fine ever since, nice crisp shifts. After i got her back from the dealer i noticed that in the morning while the car is still cold the 1-2 shift seems to lag for about 2 seconds and the 2-3 shift seems to slip quite a bit. I hadn't had this problem prior to changing the tranny fluid. Is it possible that the new transmission uses a different ATF then the original trans that was in the car from the factory and the dealership used the wrong ATF?

I'm trying to get a little bit of info before i call the dealer and start yelling.

Thanks in advance!

Delayed shifting/banging could be due to mainly overfilling.

Check the following,
1) ATF fluid level on a level surface
2) What fluid was used for the flush, it should be in the worksheet with # of quarts. Dealership should ideally have used NissanMaticD.

It is a must to reset the ECU by disconnecting the battery for couple of hrs once a flush is done, there is no way to have the vehicle relearn the shifts in the presence of new fluid.

Just ran out and checked the fluid levels, seem to be spot on. I don't have the work sheet on me at work, i'll check when i get home. I doubt they reset the ecu as all my radio stations and the clock were are still set (as well as all my sub-settings in the radio. Bass, treble, fade, etc) So i doubt they did that. I'll do that later tonight when i get home.

no kidding. I didn't know that. isn't there a way to reset the ECU by turning the screw to one side - or is this not what you are talking about? (or is it different on 5th gen vs 4th gen).

wolf - please post your results!

Welp, when i got home from work i disconnected the battery (Neg terminal) and left it off for about 2 hours. Went out and hooked it back up a little while ago. Funny thing is, all my radio stations/etc were kept. I did note the clock and the trip odometer were reset though.

Anyhow, actually feels better now. I'll have the true test in the am when i leave for work, but the tranny was shifting silky smooth. Hopefully this was all it was. I'll update tomorrow morning with the final verdict.

Im actually curious to see how this ends up. I am about to hit 60k, and want to get my tranny flushed. I am a bit hesitant, maybe because I had a 92 GXE and all of the Gawd awful tranny problems that came along with it...

Hope this works, and will stay tuned!

Sad to say it didn't fix the problem. It happened again this morning when i left for work. It still only happens on the first two shifts 1-2 then 2-3. But its still there. I'm gonna call the dealership in a few here to make an appointment.

it might take a day or two for the ECU to relearn the shifts (but I am not an expert). but hey, the dealer did the work, make them fix it.
