amsoil engine flush

whats up fellas

seen this engine flush on the amsoil website.
Just recently switched from mobil 1 5w-30 to amsoil 5w-30.

I started to use mobil 1 when I first bought my car at 39k. I wonder if the engine is dirty inside. I was thinking about doing this engine flush before my next oil change. I use the mobil 1 m1-105 oil filter. I put in 4.5 quarts of oil with oil filter change. Amsoil says to change the oil filter then fill with engine flush about 10% of what nissan says to fill up. So 10% of 4.5 is .45 which comes to 4.05 quarts. The engine flush comes in 16oz bottles so I would say that 8 bottles would be enough for the flush.

Do you think that this would be neccessary or is it a way for them to trick us into spending more $?

here's what i would do

do an oil change and replace the filter

run the engine for about 5-10 mins till it get's warm pour in one bottle of the engine flush and let it do it's work for 15 - 30 mins

drain the oil and filter again that would clean it up.

then put in your synthetic oil and new filter.

i did it on my car at 45k and it was running like new. I was using some other motor flush thing though forgot what it was called.

Why wouldn't you use the M1-110 over the 105? I have been using that on my 3.0 VQ '98, and plan to use it on the 2k1 AE I am picking up this Thursday! (yes I'm excited)

I think you might want to think about whether using Amsol over Mobil 1 is really worth it. I have never seen any difinitive evidence that Mobil 1 is inferior to any other synthetic oil.

Forget the engine flush and AutoRX it. See www.auto-rx.com and www.bobistheoilguy.com (Additives forum).

No trickery, you just misread the product info. DO NOT under any
circumstances install 8 bottles of Engine Flush in your crankcase !
AMSOIL states to "Change the oil filter and add the flush (about 10% of
the oil capacity)". Since your oil capacity is roughly 4.5 quarts, you
would need to add about half a quart of flush (one 16 ounce bottle) to your oil in order to achieve the recommended ~10% strength. If you use too little flush it won't be strong enough to remove deposits...if you use too much your
engine won't be lubricated properly while it is idling with the flush installed.

AMSOIL Engine Flush is a powerful solvent. The flush is recommended
prior to changing to AMSOIL to help remove sludge and deposits which have
accumulated in the engine. The flush is suppose to ensure the service life of AMSOIL will not be compromised by installing the premium synthetic oil in a
dirty engine. Since your car was previously run on synthetics, chances
are you won't need the flush. But if you want to do it next time
you change your oil, nothing is preventing you from doing so...just use
1 bottle. I have always simply removed the old filter and installed a
new, inexpensive one. Add the flush to the old oil; run the vehicle at
a high idle (~1500 rpm) for 20 minutes or so. Do not drive the car with
the flush installed as the Flush dilutes your oil. When the time is up,
drain the old oil and remove/discard the filter you just installed.
Install a good filter and refill the crankcase with fresh oil.

While the flush will not make a dirty engine look like new inside, it will clean away some of the crud. Well maintained Nissans aren't particularly prone to sludge and varnish, and that's good. As far as crankcase cleaners go, there are several alternatives out there...

Please feel free to contact me directly if you have any specific
questions concerning AMSOIL products.

I wouldn't touch any cleaning product Jiffy Lube has to offer honestly. I'd probably stick with Auto-RX for the tranny. In terms of ENGINE flushes I've used a few and didn't mind doing it. In terms of TRANNY flushes, I'd be very selective of what I use.

As for how many quarts...owners manual I suppose?

Yeah I don't have owners manual, so I hoped someone would tell me if they knew. But thanks anyways.

my question is, what should i do?? i wont a GOOOOOD flush ill prob do it 2 times, then a week later do it agian, cuz my vtc oil gallries are clogged up.

im pretty sure im gonna go with the flush from advance it comes in quarts.

I think I'd use AUTO-RX. It works slowly but surely.

Did the flush yesterday (despite what I had planned) and drove the car today. MUCH smoother than before the change. I was around the 8k mile mark with Amsoil Series 2000 0w-30.

Bought a NAPA oil filter (made by WIX, only like $0.50 more than the next best non-Fram thing) to do the flush. Ran it for 20 mins, then drained and re-filled with more Series 2000 0w-30 and an Amsoil Ea oil filter. The oil that came out was definitely slightly darker after the flush than before, so I guess it did its job.

FWIW.
