question about penzoil ATF...please help!

I dont have too much of knowledge about trany fluids I just got my trany flushed with penzoil dexron III before this I had the regular penzoil in trany that was on 70,000 miles when i had the last flushed done. now I got 100,000 miles and as I said I asked pepboys to use DEXRON III instead.
I would like to know if DEXRON III is fully synthetic or its a blend (semi synthetic) if its a (blend) then should I have had gone with fully synthetic to expand the time of interval? since my 01 max has 100,000 miles what do u reccomend? could penzoil synthetic be my next flush or stick with dexron III?

Penzoil to the best of my knowledge does not have a synthetic Dexron/Mercon ATF. FYI, many of the OTC Dexron/Mercon ATFs are GrpII and neither syn/blends.

Now coming to the 100K change interval on these ATFs, stay away from these marketing gimmicks if you want to save the tranny. The benchmarks on ATF breaking down for petroleum based ATFs is 30K and syn 60K.

If you really wanted synthetic, go with Mobil1/Amsoil but remember they are multi-vehicle ATFs meeting all the ATF specs under the sun, which should be taken with a grain of salt.!!

Dextron III is a minimum "performance" spec that either a petroleum or synthetic fluid can be formulated to meet. Nissan recommends an atf meeting Nissan-matic D or Dextron III as an alternative. I suspect there's not much difference, if any, between the two. While any D-III fluid will meet Nissan's requirements for your transmission, a premium synthetic atf will offer advantages such as lower operating temps, reduced wear, extended service life, etc. AMSOIL synthetic is specifically labeled as meeting Nissan-matic D and D-III.
