i have this oil at work in a big drum and i've been really wanting to use it but i've been told gl5 will eat my manual trans. it says on the drum that its good for gl3, 4, and 5. therefore the additives for gl5 are already in it so it will eat my trans, right? i just want to clarify so i can know whether or not to use it..

Don't use it. The additive packages contained in lubes such as the Mobil-1 you describe tend to be more aggressive than a straight GL-4 lube. I can get you a deal on AMSOIL synthetic GL-4 shipped directly to you from the Product Center in Orlando...you'd have it in about a day. http://forums.maxima.org/showthread.php?t=505189 I've also seen some other posts on here where folks have found petroleum GL-4 gear oils locally...so you have some better options than M-1 GL-5.
