Check Engine light came on... getting the code

Guys - its been a very long time since i visited these boards but i remember years back there was a sticky on how to check the codes when the check engine light comes on?!? I would like to diagnosis this myself i and see what i can come up with. Links/advice/help is all greatly appreciated. -Brandon

look in the 4th gen stickies -- i am assuming u r talking about ur 97

I usually cheat and drive up to autozone and have them pull the code for me.
