Bg44k

Has anyone used the BG44K fuel system product?

I know it contains a solvent and wonder if it would do any harm to the engine/fuel sytem.

How much fuel should be added to the 11 ounce can?

It strikes me that it would be more effective if a whole tank of gas wasn't used.

Where is kcryan when I need him?

Used it once in each of the vehicles, van and max, poured it in w/ 1/4 tank of gas, added BG, then filled up. To be honest, I don't know if I really noticed a difference.

I was a bit hesitant to use it after reading up on it because it is quite a STRONG cleaner. But, my van had 2 occasions close together of fuel injector issues, running crappy as if on 4 cylinders instead of 6 and SES light coming on. I got the code cleared twice, put in the strong BK44K stuff and the light never returned, atleast so far. Smoothed the thing out, too. I have heard that if you use it, don't do it more than once a year or so since it is quite strong. I have not used it in my Max, and not planning to. I use the less strong Chevron Techron, and cheaper since it doesn't have the problems my van had. I think I'd use it if you got rough running problems, but not often.

Just my $.02.

I have also posted a thread on BITOG (www.bobistheoilguy.com) and have decided that I am going to hold back on using the BG44K on the Maxima.

I don't think I need anything this strong at this point in time (68K mostly highway miles).

I am going to look into getting some Schaeffers 131 Neutra which is a fuel additive that supposedly will help clean the EGR system and minimize the risk of the carbon buildup that sometimes needs to be scraped out manually.

Failing that I will just use some Chevron Techron in December before I go through emissions testing.

However, I understand that Chevron Techron isn't readily available in Canada anymore, at least at Chevron gas stations and they don't sell it at Canadian Tire.

It's already been stated above, but pour the entire contents on a nearly empty tank and fill up. The jury is still out on whether it makes a difference or not. I've had decent results, but I've always used chevron techron.
