Visual inspection maintenance

In my maxima owners guide, it has listed various 'inspection' tasks, such as inspecting the steering gear, linkage, drive boots, belts, vapor and fuel lines, etc. I was wondering if there is information out there as to the easiest way to do all of this, and what you are looking for... pictures of course would be great.

If not, maybe a document needs to be created...

as far as belts and rubber parts go, you looking just to make sure they aren't cracked. or to make sure rubber tubes aren't resting on hot items and have broken.
