Well I thought id post this up for those of you who are not aware of it. I had some ****ty penzoil gl-5 in my tranny just because thats all i had at home when i did my axle, the shifting was so incredibly notchy, i didnt like driving the car, and it even grinded once going into first. on top of the fact a short throw increases how bad it went in, i almost didnt want to drive the car, every time i shifted i had a not so re-assuring snick (synchros not quite up to speed kinda deal). First gear was super hard to get into when stopped.

Couldnt get any redline locally today, so i decided to go with the Nissan HQ 75W85. I honestly didnt know if it was Gl-4 or not, but i threw a couple liters in when i did my engine and it seemd to shift better.

This stuff is like 12$ a liter from the dealer, my cost was 8.67, a VLSD MT takes 4.5 liters, so buy 5 bottles, non lsd, id get 6 bottles just to be on the safe side.

To cut to the crap, after some research this stuff is GL4. It is primarily used in the 350Z's, but apparently all nissan dealerships should be using this stuff in tranny work, but very few do, including mine, ill talk to the service manager about it too.

Anyways its called Nissan HQ MTF 75W85. Its a good alternative to Redline/Amsoil, i can speak on behalf of redline, id say its on par, i was not overly impressed with the redline for the amount you pay, but the amsoil i cannot speak on because i have never used it. But this stuff is readily available, its good quality, car shifts 150% better, its stupid to think a fluid can change something like that.

Shoot, if you didn't wanna drive the car, I'd have taken it. Straight up trade for my auto, problem solved.

I went to Mr.Lube once, they would not sell it to me bulk, they told me they would only do it, so i let them and they mangled my fill plug..it was stripped, i could barely get it out.
