Oem 15208-9e000 filter discontinued?

Try to buy some online and this part # came up 15208-9E01A. Vender said they were the same and did a google search and found out they replaced the 15208-9E000. Just wondering if this is true and if anyone's used the newer ones yet and how they compare to the old.

Old model filters were built in Japan. Now they're build in China or Taiwan...or somewhere else; those are low quality filters.

I would suggest you get a Wix or Mobil 1 filter. Just my 2 cents.

Now I'm 15208-9E000 was the original from Japan long ago discontinued.
15208-65F00 was the fram replacement.

Now you're saying the opposite? I stocked up on 15208-65F00 anyway, says made in Japan. Have 5 left then switching to M1 I have sitting around from AAP deals.

Like maxima.org member Shift_A32B said. At one point OEM Nissan oil filters were made in JAPAN or USA (Metal end-caps) Now they are made CHINA (Cardboard end-caps)
15208-9E000 Made in USA
15208-9E000 Made in JAPAN
15208-9E000 Made in CHINA

I personally use Purolator Premium PLUS L14610 (Metal end-caps,Made in the USA & have some-what similar construction to the old (USA/JAPAN) 15208-9E000.

15208-9E000 filters may be discontinued by Nissan but are still around. I bought a block of 16 recently on Ebay....probably made in China. I have a few left from a purchase probably 5 yrs ago that are made in USA.
The 2007 Maxima had 91K on it when I traded it.....using Mobil 1 syn oil and the 9E000 filters. I expect to put over 100K on the 2012 Maxima using same oil and filters. Currently at 30K and never a problem.
