2004 Maxima Oil Change Recomendations
Hey all,
I'm new to this forum as I will be picking up an '04 Maxima that I purchased.
Vehicle mileage is fairly high with 230,000km, but the clutch was just done at 216K so I figured the offer was a steal and went for it. Car is coming from the original owner of 10 years who seems to take good care of his vehicles.
As soon as i get the vehicle I want to change the oil to begin my own intervals. The previous owner has been using synthetic for oil changes, so i will continue to do so. Although being a high mileage VQ and knowing about timing chain problems that this car doesn't seem to suffer from, i'd like to have a recommendation as to what oil and filter I should run.
I'm thinking pennzoil platinum 5w30 and an oem Nissan filter with service intervals of 5000 or 7500 km?? As for the filter, there is discussion on this forum that say some oem filters are cheaply made with cardboard end caps. Other part numbers are listed which apparently feature metal end caps in construction.
Would somebody be able to provide the part number for the best oem Nissan filter that I could run in this '04 maxima? Or if they are all bad then give guidance towards the best aftermarket filter?
Much thanks
