Fuel additive

Does anyone recommend fuel additives? I remember some additive that you add in a new car that coats the pistons and cylinders with a teflon like coating. I think it was called slick or something. I'm interested in hearing thoughts from the pros in this forum. Thanks.

Slick 50 is an oil additive. That buildup on the cylinder walls may make a car feel like it's running better/burning less oil, but it didn't make the engine last longer, most cases especially when overused, it destroyed engines. I'd avoid oil additives other then pre oil change solvents.

That said, Seafoam is a great fuel additive...Lucas makes some good stuff too.

I'm not a believer in additives, but quit a few people swear by this TCW-3. I will be trying it too.

I used fuel stabilizer stuff before storing my previous car for the winter and didn't notice any difference.

Also used seafoam before and it just created a massive mess in my garage (white fumes coming out of the exhaust turning the entire neighborhood white)... Neighbor called 911 LOL thinking the house was on fire

I've had good luck with AMSOIL Performance Improver (P.I.). I typically use it a couple times per year and it seems to be doing it's job. 140K on the engine, absolutely no codes, no catalytic converter issues, no pre-ignition ping, spark plugs changed at 100K and they were perfectly clean.

I also tried SeaFoam in another car to clean the throttle body and ingest the remainder thru a vacuum hose from the intake manifold...car ended up throwing a code. I now use AMSOIL Power Foam as an intake cleaner on my vehicles and on those of customers and it works very well.

Does anyone have any experience using AutoRX? I used it as recommended 8 years ago on my low mileage 95 SE before switching to synthetic oil. For the last 3 OCIs I have used it on a maintenance basis, adding 4 oz. I got my oil changed today and decided to skip an OCI, although I still have 2 bottles left, ie. enough for 6 more oil changes.

Techron or seafoam have worked well for me over several years. Sometimes even instantly fixing a gummed jet or injector with poor spray.

The cool thing about TC-W3, IMO, is that it is not an additive. It's just regular 2 cycle motor oil that contains the magic molecule TC-W3.
