Floor Jack.

This has to be a repost but I ask still.

What is a good bang for buck floor jack. I was over at Freeway's house, and his floor jack was beautiful, lifted the car in a few pumps, from the cross member. I am looking to get a nice and decent one, I dont want to spend $200 on one, but would like to have some quality with it.

Tired of using the stock jack, lifting one side, then the other side, put the jack stand underneath. Dont get me started on how high it can lift the car. Dont get me wrong I understand its the stock jack, I'm just frustrated with it.

I have a feeling a lot of people may have gotten theirs from sears.

I'm quiet pleased with the jack that I picked up at Harbor Freight. I bought it when it was on special along with jack stands for $169.

Craftsman all aluminum or mostly aluminum floor jack. I have the mostly aluminum one. Weighs 53lbs, costs $109. The all aluminum craftsman is 44lbs and costs $189 (these prices are not sale prices, they can be found cheaper). All steel floor jacks are cheaper, but weigh 80+lbs.

I forgot to check harbor freight. I'm feeling a little shaky on them since my spring compressors broke, first night I was using them, but I'll still check them out.

I didnt know about steel jacks, I'll try to find mostly aluminum, or all illuminum. From what I'm seeing most floor jacks, that have that long base to it, start at 3 tons. I'm looking for a model like that, that I can slide under the car and lift at the cross member. I think harbor freight or sear will have what I'm looking for.

I bought a Craftsman 3 ton + 2 jackstands for $130 or so.

I want a racing jack...lightweight, and fully extended in like 5 pumps

I'd do the sears part aluminum one personally (again, since I already bought it once lol). I think it's the best combination of quality, weight and price. I'm not a harbor freight fan, I've heard of alot of broken harbor frieght stuff.

I use an old Craftsman one I think, found it in my dad's basement. Hasn't really failed me yet, but it can't fit under the crossmember on my '95, and it's still a stock 4x4. I have to use the stock jack on one side to lift it high enough to slip the jack under it.

This is the all aluminum one, looks identical to the mostly aluminum one. They don't appear to have the part aluminum one on sears.com

Also, I would look for one that lifts the car up pretty high. I got a craftsman one that lifts it up 21 inches, which helps out alot when you are under the car.

Which one of the jacks that you guys recommended can readily accept the transmission jack-style add-on that allows for angle adjustment and has the wide flat top?

i bought one at advance auto parts on sale for $25 with two jack stands included and I am pleased with it for my uses.. I put the car up in 5 seconds, slide a couple jack stands under there, and then release the jack to not put too much pressure on such an inexpensive jack.. if you only need it occassionally or for small jobs and dont mind jack stands- go with the cheap ones.. came with a carry case too, great if your broke/

Harbor Freight is your friend. I bought one of the aluminum and regular jacks from them. Just buy the extra warranty so you can can it out every year no questions asked.

I use the craftsman 1/2 aluminum racing jack. It works great, and I haven't found a car I could not get it under, lowered or not. I got it for arond $70 when it was on sale last year.

I bought the Craftsman all-steel 3 ton jack for $60. Lifts to 21" or so, not too fast, but honestly only takes 2 minutes to pump up all the way. You can probably get it for $40 on sale. I don't use it enough to justify spending more for less weight or faster lifting. I buy my jackstands from Wal-Mart -- two 2 tonners for $10.

Looks nice, but 1.5 Tons will that be enough for you? 1.5 = 3,000lbs. Just about the weight of the max.

When are you going to lift up the whole car all at once? 1.5 ton is fine for most work, unless your trying to jack up the whole front end of a Hummer H-1 or larger.

I bought one just like the one in the picture from sears.... I bought it for my dad for christmas last year at cost co for about 70. Its an amazing jack.... lifts the car up in a few pumps, just twist the handle and it comes back down. Its very low to the ground so it fits under low cars.... and i have used it on things as big as lifted F-150's.

I bought the all aluminum one awhile back and I love it. It's good for me since it is light and alot of times my carport is packed and I have to work in the street or the rock driveway!

I didn't think weight rating mattered either but my original jack was from Napa
It was a decent size and rated for 1.5ton if not 2 and after about 3 or 4 uses the bolt holding one of the wheels went.

MDeezy that jack I have is an Arcan I'll see if I can get a price. I think I picked it up from Costco. There are much nicer jacks, but I like the robust-ness of it.

I think Mr. Gone has one if I'm not mistaken.

That is another thing. Make sure it can go LOW but also check the maximum height it can lift.

I was actually just looking for a jack to install my RSB, but had to go to walmart first to pick up some stuff for my mom. Lol I picked up a 3 ton jack that works pretty damn well for 15$ while I was there. Its got about a 2 foot handle so it doesnt take much effort to get the car in the air and it raises 13inches. Let me tell you I was buying it more as a joke just in case I needed a jack and for 15$ the thing works suprisingly well. I might actually use this one for my RSB install.

I also needed one fast, tired of using the scissor (cheap masochist ). Sears had a 3 ton jack plus jack stands for $27. Not proud, but even if it breaks, the stands alone are almost worth it. 14 inch rise, and it takes about 15 pumps to fully extend. One year warranty.

I just picked up the little Harborfreight one last week for $55 using a coupon.
http://www.harborfreight.com/cpi/cta...emnumber=91039

Construction quality was really pretty nice and it's so light for carrying around. It's not a quick pump though.
