Jack Stand End Cap

Is there some sort of end cap I can get for my jack stand so that it fits the grooves of the unibody jack point? I usually just put the "V" of the jackstand there, but it seems like there would be a better solution.

Yes, but I think they are only sold with the jack stands and only certain types come with the sliders.

You might be able to get em here, if these are what you're referring to:

I realize now that you said something for the stands and not for the jack itself.... I'll let ya know if I find anything, because I was actually just thinking about these adaptors today as I was under the car.

Where is the proper place to position the jack stands

Before I destroy my car, are there any pictures in this forum that will show me where to properly position my jack stands?

Yeah, I could swear I saw these before for the jack stand. For the jack I use a rubber hockey puck.

I am subscribing to this thread because I would also be very interested in such an adaptor.

Please explain to me how the hockey puck helps you with the jack (not insulting, just curious). Is the reasoning that it is round so fits nicely inside the jack "cup" and the result is that the weight on the pinch-weld is distributed evenly across the diameter of the puck?

Currently, I have a square piece of wood that fits inside the jack stand "cup" and cut a notch through the middle where I fit the pinch weld inside. It seems to work okay except that the wood is starting to get pretty bent out of shape from the weight of the car.

Yes, the puck distributes the weight same as a piece of wood.

Embarrassing newbie question here, but when I attempt to jack up my car using a hydraulic jack located at the jack point at the front of the car (as seen in the picture shown above), it won't lift the car high enough for me to position jack stands in the notches just behind the front wheel. Is there another point on each side of the car where I can use the jack to lift the car enough to place jack stands in the appropriate spot and not screw the car up royally?

What is the maximum lifting height of your jack? You might just need a different jack that will lift higher than the one you use.

This seems like it would work as long as the notches are deep enough.

I researched the safety stand attachments listed in the FSm at the Kent Moore website and there was no part number in the Nissan to KM cross reference. The Nissan number is LM4519-0000.

I emailed SPX/Kent Moore yesterday asking them about the attachments listed in Nissan's service manual and they told me that they did not make them and didn't know of anybody that does. Somebody could probably make some good money if they produced those suckers.

Thanks for the legwork Zero. It sure would be nice to have something like this more easily available..........as I said above, my grooved pieces of wood are getting bent out of shape.

You're welcome. I'm not giving up yet though. I will eventually find or make something to go on top of my jackstands.

Ressurecting an old, but relevent thread.

Posting pics of a jack stand head I designed and fabricated to accomidate welded unibody seams interfering with Maxima factory jack stand support points. If members are interested, I can provide diagrams, but the design is simple and straight-forward.

My paint is lousy, but it's a jack stand, right? The excess rubber pads will be cut off once the adhesive dries thoroughly.

Comments welcome.

Posted a comment in your 5th Gen thread, but moving this to the Garage forum, where it belongs. Thanks.

No, totally not your fault. This thread is older than the Garage subforum, so I'm glad it was brought back.

Rubber. I figure if people have trouble sourcing beefy rubber stock, they could get resourceful and pick up some used truck flaps from a truck service center or use a sawzall on an old tire.
