Want to buy a tool box

Any recommendations? I don't want to pay Snap-on or Matco for their boxes. I would however consider paying Craftsman or Harbor Freight Tools for their boxes. They can be ball bearing or not.

what size do you need. Me and Irish have similar 40" boxes from Craftsman and Joel has my old one, it's a 13-drawer 26" model....it all depends on requirements...

I want to get a 42" box. I have a 26" craftman plus a stack on top of that.

I have a 35 Anniversery Ford Mustang Mac Tools box bout 6" high 25 drawers and a Craftsman 14 waist hight box, and they are built almost exactly the same. Even the Cobalt boxes are not that bad. I would def get a box with ball bearing drawers.

i personally have a snap on krl722 and i love it but it was quite pricey
A co-worker actually has a harbor freight box, the roll cab looking one and it seems to be pretty high quality for the price, drawers roll nice and smooth even with weight in them, they have double rollers on the big drawer, the bottom of the chassis is all boxed. Im just saying for the price it would be hard to beat, even if you have enough tools to buy two of them.

Check Ebay. buy a good quality used box on ebay. They'll last you a lifetime, even if they're already 20 years old.

Also watch estate sales in your area. Grandpa dies and Grandma just sells everything in the garage. I have several friends that have picked up boxes completely loaded with tools for $50. Get it home and find out it's filled with snap on, Mac, S-K, Proto. Score!

If you check a few pawn shops you can sometimes score a tool box full of tools for cheap. I knew someone who got a box for like $300, but was full of Snap-On air tools, and a bunch of other stuff.
