Hi all, trying to remove the screws for the injector hats. They are so corroded and set on there that I started to strip the heads. I thought about drilling them out but I'm afraid of screwing up the threads, especially with such a tiny screw. Anything else you guys can recommend to get them out? Thanks

 

How about a Screw extractor? I know you said you don't want to drill, but the extractor wont mess up the threads..

 

I took mine out with pliers.

Screw extractor could just strip it out more. The above method with pliers or VISE GRIPS works every time.

 

I always end up using some type of chisel and a hammer to tap them out, always works great for me.

 

Dremel a groove into it so you could use a flat-head to remove it or use vise-grips

 

drill a slightly smaller diameter hole in the center then glue another screw into that hole then try unscrewing the second one... i dono i would't try 3 if it gets to that point :P

 

You should be able to find a small enough screw extractor or left hand drill to take the stripped out bolt out I have an Irwin and Hanson set...it's a life saver

Mhmm, the screw extractor works like a charm, I had the same problem except while trying to remove screw from my stock headunit. Bought that puppy and out they came =)

 

I tried something similar to this to remove a stripped out hex bolt on my throttle body. I used a 3/8" bolt & JB Weld. When I tried to break the bolt loose, the 3/8" bolt just unscrewed from the JB Weld.

 

Just got an extractor set - they work wonders!

 

As seen on TV, get the screw extractor, that the late Billy Mays use to sell. They sell it for 20 bucks at Walgreens, CVS maybe

 

IF the fuel rail is that rusted and corroded, then just throw it away. grind the screw heads off and pop the caps off. Get the injectors out, then get another fuel rail from a junkyard. use a good quality screwdriver (Klein, Snap On, Matco, etc. Better than crapsman) with a new tip on it so you don't mess up the threads on the new one.

 

i hammered a similar sized(little smaller) socket. once its on tight. start taking it off. always worked for me.

 

That would be nice if they were talking about a hex head screw or bolt, but they're talking about a small phillips screw. not gonna work there. especially not when you're working near fuel injectors. I'm not taking a hammer near a $150 injector.
