Is it Safe to Run a Oil Lubed Electric Air Compressor in Winter Conditions?

Just wondering if this will rust the internals - sucking in cold air from outside into the machine. Or should I situate the unit inside and run mega length hoses?

It will be fine. I sometimes spray fogging oil into the cylinder beforehand.

Mine is in my unheated garage this winter and I've actually noticed less condensation than in the summer. I wouldn't worry about it, just drain it regularly. Fogging oil probably isn't a bad idea either. Good idea! never thought of that.

I used mine and noticed that it was labouring a bit, and it shut down before I could get to it. Took it inside and no problems. But then again, I was using it in -15 deg c weather, with a windchill of around -24 deg...

Interesting - thanks guys. I ended up just putting together a 65 foot 1/2" hose and then just run the machine in the basement indoors, and pull out the hose when I needed to use it. I put an inline filter 3/4 way down the line (it was really cheap but it does seem to catch some water pretty good), then a 15 foot hose that goes into the tool.
