Funny Story To Share

Well, I did the fourth or fifth dumbest thing I've ever done while working on cars today and thought I would share it with all of you. I was changing the oil in my 2000 GLE and drained the old oil, and removed the filter, and I started swapping off my winter wheel/tire setup with my summer wheel/tire setup while the last of the oil was trickling out since I had the front end up on jackstands already, in the meantime my girlfriend came home and started talking my ear off.... then I get a phone call....

Well thirty-five minutes later I finally get back to my oil. I was starting to hurry because it had just started lightly raining... so in my haste I began to pour 4 1/4 Qts. of Mobil 1 in out of a 5 Qt. jug. Well after I get done pouring it in, I walk back into the garage and see the drain plug and the new Mobil 1 filter still sitting on the table gleaming at me. I said, "oh no..." and pooped a little. Then I dashed back out and dove under the car to put the drain plug in. At least the drain pan was still under the car, so it didn't make a huge mess, but I still lost 3 Qts. and had to drive a different car 40 miles round trip to the nearest place that carries Mobil 1 to spend $21.89 on three more quarts.

To make a long story short, haste makes waste. Hope you enjoyed.

You have to drive 20 miles to buy some mobil 1? You must live in the middle of no where, that why it is so good living in the city, i can walk 5 mins to a part store to get anything i want , and there are a least 10-15 different places i can find mobil 1 within 5 miles of where i live.

Haha nice I learned a lesson today...

I have had my fair share of mistakes too, but mostly cosmetic mistakes made while trying to paint my car or something

I have to drive 20 miles to get oil too (unless i want pennzoil from the gas station). Believe it or not, most people who dont live in the city dont WANT to live in the city. Do you also enjoy the easily accessible pollution and noise created by the people your constantly sardine-canned with?

I actually have a friend that starts his car after he drains the oil, before he puts the new stuff in.... just to make sure his low oil light works.... true story.

I just happened on this story, and it exactly the same thing my friend did with his acura legend. I had to take him some oil, as it was late Sunday evening, and he needed the car to go to work.
