Is this the sound of a bad transmission?

Unfortunately. I let my brother use my Maxima for a few hours and he called and told me it broke. We got a tow truck to tow it back to my place and it makes a really loud sound. I thought it was the cylinder heads at first so I did a compression test to all 6 cylinders but they seem fine. So I'm thinking its the trans?? I cleaned the IAC yesterday with carb cleaner so is that what messed it up? Here's a YouTube video of my engine right now when I turn it on please watch this!

I was so mad too. Also I just noticed the coolant level went down like an inch. The car drives but doesn't really go past 3000 RPM

I didn't do a Diesel engine swap but what do you think the car needs in order to fix this sound? A new cylinder head?

Damn! So what do you guys think I should do? Toss it? Get another Maxima? This one doesn't have any engine upgrades or anything and 3 of the doors have dents ( not from me by the way lol) so I wouldn't mind junking it for another maxima with 90k miles for 2 grand

well first of all determine if the sound is from the top end or bottom end, if it sounds like the bottom end it might be new engine time

It's hard to tell since its so loud but it sounds like its coming from under the intake manifold toward the windshield side of the engine

might be worth removing the valve covers and taking a look at things if you want, but the big thing is you need to find out if the noise is from the bottom end or top end

did he bag the living ballz out of the engine for a few hours or something? lol

It sounds like its coming from on the top of the engine not the bottom. N haha that's what I asked him too because like wtf my car was fine before I let him use it

might be a collapsed lifter or the like then, hard to say without seeing the actual vehicle but might be worth yanking the valve covers and checking things
