FS: 01 SE Muffler w/ tip
Is this the one that has the stock valving for open flow at highway speeds? What is the diameter of the inlet piping? I am looking for a low-medium noise muffler upgrade with good flow for my '89 Max w/ 2.5" piping. Can we see some upclose pics?

Hi, this is the stock 5th and 5.5th gen muffler. It has about a 2.25" inlet and comes with the polished tip at the end (not standard on all 5th gen mufflers). I have all piping for this muffler except for the bolt on end piece. However, to guarantee fitment, I would advise cutting piping off as far back as needed and getting custom piping to fit this on previous generations.
I purchased this same muffler for my 97 boosted maxima and it definitely tones the noise down yet gives the car extra breathe especially on the highway. This is the next best thing to stock if you are looking for quietness and more hp

the benefit of a 5th gen muffler over a 4th gen muffler is that its variable or something of that sort. It has chambers and when car reaches a certain speed, an extra chamber opens up which gives room for more exhaust flow and more power. I dont consider this muffler optimal for looks. Instead, the main benefit of this muffler is to satisfy the need of those looking for a better flowing muffler with a stock look and MAINLY stock sound.
I honestly wouldnt recommend this for a boosted car because its better than stock but still restrictive compared to 3" muffler's.
If you are looking for a simple upgrade with better flow and still quiet, this is the best option. This is the route I went when I had a warpspeed y-pipe and budget b-pipe on my 97 Rosewood SE 5 speed (i miss them days still).
