Leak in my HAI

When I was making my poormans HAI I really bent that Gold medal adapter in the stock airbox. I think that I got it bent back into shape alright, to prevent air leaks. But will I know if there is an air leak? What problems will occur if their is a leak?
BTW- I just took it out for a test drive, WOW! It is sooo much louder above 3k RPM. I cant figure out if I like it, its so much different!

the poormans HAI also consists of wrapping the whole adapter area with duct tape to seal off any leaks.
