Hey guys, I'm new to the forums, but I need some advice, I found a great deal on a Fully Loaded 96 GLE, $9,999,and the guy will is even going to give me $2,000 for my 93 GXE, the only thing is the car has over 160,000 miles on it, the guy at the dealership said I can take it to my mechanic and whatever my mechanic finds wrong with it, he will fix for free. It really sounds to good to be true, I've seen the car, and I've driven it as well. Please help me out with this. Thanks

 

i don't think it's a good deal. i bought my 96 GLE last year for 7000. and it had only 90k on it. It was in good condition. no cracks from the leather and the engine was very quiet. it sounded like it only have 30k on the engine.

 

Does anyone know of any problems I might run into with this car, and the high mileage?

 

a 96 w/ 160K miles.....I wouldn't buy any car with that many miles for $10K. I think you can find a better deal.

 

Your problem may be with the auto tranny. In my 3rd gen SE the transmission blew at 111K and the second at 174K. If that ‘96 has 160K on an original tranny, look for a $2000-3500 replacement to come up real soon.

 

Maxima with 160k miles is not worth more then $4000. Don't waste your time. You can find a nice max with 85k for $10,000.
