Running a 50 shot "blind"

Would you really do it?

I know that we can run a 50 shot without any guages, but has anyone tried it?

My guages (both FP and EGT) are at AutoMeter getting repaired and I just found out that I'll be without them for at least 2 or 3 more weeks. I've been itching to get the rest of the NOS kit installed and try it out (I was going to start with a 50 shot anyways), but I've been making myself wait for the guages to come back.

I have a new fuel pump and FPR sitting here too, but I don't really want to install those until I have the FP guage. Or, if I get the settings like stock (34->43psi) or close to it using the FPR, will the typical bypass jet give me the desired FP when spraying? Will I run way rich with the new pump and properly adjusted FPR?

How? Just reading the plugs?

Would I be better with the stock pump and FPR until I get my guages back?

Go and buy a mechanical FP gauge, I got one for less than $20 and hook it up under the hood at least you will know if the fpr and pump are setup properly. After you get the other one back you can just leave it permanently mounted under the hood its great for double checking the other one too.

You can also do what I do with mine, put a 2' hose on the FP guage and run it through the hood on top of the wipers so you can watch it while testing.

All of which I plan on doing. I'm more worried about when I'm at the track or something...if something goes wrong, I really won't have any way to tell until its too late.

Descisions, decisions...

50 shot aint shi+, you wont blow it.

To check if the fuel pressure is rising up you would unhook the electrical connection to the second nitrous solinoid, this way the nitrous will not spray into motor but the fuel pressure should rise up. The motor will feel weak and may sputter but thats ok for a few runs. After your sure the fuel pressure is going up wire up the second solinoid and add the juice.

Makes sense guys.

Thanks for the help. I think I'll hook it up this weekend.

Any suggestion on upgrading the pump/FPR now, or later when I need it and have the guages?
