Review: NGK PFR6G-11 on Supercharged Max

I installed the NGK PFR6G-11 spark plugs today & was amazed at the difference one step colder plugs can make! I did not change the stock gap, which is 0.044". I bought them from a local dealer for $11.00/piece

My Maxima has been supercharged for about a month. I was running stock plugs the whole time & saw my EGT's reach 1400+ at highway cruise in 5th gear. I had to keep the car below 90 mph (top gear only) to keep EGT's below 1400F. Not any more

With the step colder, I've noticed my EGT's have gone down about 1000 degress across the board. Also. the temps come down a tad quicker. I also did this by the book. Di-electric grease & anti-seize compound!

On a side note: My stock (OEM NGK) plugs which were less than 3 months old, had signs of fouling. Just an FYI to current & future BOOST people. Get the colder plugs...ASAP!

Just found this thread. I have a 70 shot of NOS. Do you think I'll benefit from one step colder plug too? does NOS count as "boost" ?

Yes, NOS definitely counts as "BOOST".
1 step colder plugs with stock gap should benefit you, especially if you get on NOS switch. My temps have gotten 100 degrees colder since the plugs. I think it was worth it!

At 70 shot you might want to consider two steps colder plugs. But remember off the bottle performance will suffer.

Agree, especially if you live in colder climates
