Hey guys, I just got my B pipe installed. I did not feel much improvement in low end, but there was a slight increase in top end. It is teamed up with my Apex Dunk muffler now, to give me a catback.

I have a question though, right now it is VERY QUIET! It isn't raspy or anything, but it is not very loud at all! Will it get any louder as it breaks in?

Also, as I was driving home, for the first 5 minutes there was a kinda weird sound. It was a hollow, resonating note around 40 MPH. Will this go away when it "breaks in?"

Thanks for the help guys. Overall, I'd say it was a good investment. In a few hours I'm getting my H&R/Tokicos put on also, I'll make a post on how that works out. It's one hell of a Christmas for my Max!!

Once you get a y-pipe installed it's really gonna change the sound of your muffler. Maybe not to a point where you'll go deaf, but it will be noticable.

That "weird" sound you're hearing is the resonating of the exhaust. It will get worse and deeper with break in. Once you add the Y-pipe, your noise will go up dramaticlly and so will the resonating. I had to get rid of my HKS muffler (quietst Max muffler you can get) because it was too loud and ricey with the Y-pipe and resonated Courtesy B-pipe. I can't imagine how loud your exhaust will be with a y-pipe.

As for performance, I felt a nice bit of lowend torque and maybe a little topend. Greg P noticed the same thing.

Like Dave mentioned, the exhaust will get slightly louder in a few weeks once the metal goes through several initial heat cycles. Also, it'll get deeper after 10 min of driving. Hotter pipes = higher exhaust velocity = lower exhaust frequencies = more resonance

Cool, thanks for the info guys. The "hollow, resonating" sound has gone away. I drove about 40 miles and I didn't hear the sound any more. It sounds good. Deep, but not too loud at all. I like it...it's pronounced enough to let ya know it ain't stock, but it's subtle enough to let ya know it ain't no riced up Civic either

So tell me. Is it worth it honstly? How much did you pay for this total? I was thinking of getting the B pipe as well. Another question for everyone else who knows, does the B+Y pipe make a larger difference in power?

Re: Maxrod33

The B pipe with install ended up around $240. Honestly, the gains are not incredible, they can be felt, but not in a huge amount. I think the Y pipe or ECU would be a better investment.

time to update the sig, Ranil.. H&R/TOkicos are on the car now

as far as seat of the pants feel.. it'll be hard to feel a 4-8 hp gain. do the full catback at the same time.. then it can probably be felt. most of the gains with the B section will be mid and top end.
