We're content because our car offers high HP for the $. Not everybody is that way. When you have different options and prices, there will be different choices made based on individual needs, wants, and means.
If everybody on this forum stepped up to an E46 BMW, do you think every person would go straight to the 330? I bet some would go 325, unless it were mommy and daddy's coyne.
I drove the 2.5 Altima stick and liked it. Just didn't like the typical Nissan loose steering feel. I didn't feel as if it needed any more power. 175 vs. 190 for the 4th gen is about the same. So if a 5-spd 4th gen is sufficient, so is a 2.5 Alty.

Why argue about GENerations.............Altima people could do that too. THey are argueing over same gen and diffrent engines. Maximas have always had the best engines in the years they were made from 92 3 gens, to 97 fourth gens, to 2001-2002 fifth gens. our engines have been kicing *** for the last 13-15 years in its class. Altima people are funny though. they will never get to our level.no matter what they do hahaha. []

hey now, everyone is entitled to their opinions - even when they're wrong! i don't see anything we maxima owners have to bicker about... everyone should just bow down and worship the 5th gen auto owners, especially those with black cars. But I understand people can't accept reality and have to have their illusions... such is life.

Manufacturing, or "build quality" are problems are issues like mis-aligned panels, parts missing, and other things of that nature. These problems occur becasue some dipsh!t on the assembly line screwed up.
Both my 01 Accord V6 and my old 90 Camry were built in the US. My Camry, with 207,000 miles on it had LESS squeaks and rattles on it than my Accord V6 did with only 10,000 miles!
My Accord squeaked and rattled like mad because the DESIGN sucked and cheapo materials were used, and not enough time was spent working out these issues in the DESIGN phase of the vehicle.
My 4th Gen Max was built in Japan and its overall quality lies somewhere between those two cars. This has nothing to do with where it was built, but rather on the quality of the DESIGN.

Sqeaks, rattles, and overall "quality" has very little to do with where a car is manufactured. The overall quality of a car is most directly related to the DESIGN of the car, and not where it's built.

I had always wondered why the Q45 isn't successful, on paper it's incredible. Always liked that video camera to the upper-left of the plate. But have you ever looked at how the side glass looks? What a throwback by about 8 years. Nissan just doesn't understand that it's about the total picture. Q45 has some serious numbers, but still no dice. What's nissan got to the SC430? Nada. There's an intangible that nissan just ain't got. Maybe it'll never figure it out, who knows?

I've owned a new '90, a used '96 and have had my 2K2 SE about 4 months.
I liked the room of the '90 and for it's year it kicked ***. The first year of curves. Beautiful.
The '96 was the most reliable car I've ever had. It was quick enough to take most other 6's with little or no mods and handled great.
BUT,
my 2K2 absoutely kicks my little obsession into high gear.
I play with the v8's with no fear, the ergonomics are great and I've met (sorta) a whole subset of society that understands ny obsession (unlike anyone I know but the gearheads).
I am very satisfied with my 2K2. Please don't bash them, they are your future (unless you plan on jumping over to the Hondas).

No way. A 2.5 Alty is not going to be like any VQ. It may have the same HP as the 4th gen, but I'm sure the TQ will tell a very different story. THAT"S what makes the VQ series motors so good. The 2.5 Alty may reach the same top speed as the 4th gen, but the 4th gen will blow it away getting there
