solution for the K& N oil and MAF problem

Ok well i had an interesting idea (for 4am), but i was reading around about the way to recharge filters with oil and i came upon this:

"Excess oil will be inhaled by the engine on start up leaving a film of oil in the cotton to trap all particulates"

Now this is what causes the buildup on the MAF sensor, now here's my idea:

What if we used a vacuum cleaner hose (other types of vacuums will work too, this is the first that came to mind) and stick it on the filter with an adapter to let it suck up all the excess oil and then we put the filter on the car, thus no excess oil, no MAF problem with K&N filters.

What do u guys think, and I hope I don’t read this tomorrow and think ”what am I an idiot”, but whatever

Solution is not to over oil the filter in the first place.

The instructions also say not to use any kind of forced air, as it may damage the cotton gauze.

as long as you're not blowing air through, you'll be ok. air dry it then simulate the sucking of an engine. sometimes air drying only will still cause that film on the mafs.

How? Only improper handling of the oil will cause maf problems

so how come when you first buy a k&n from the store, run it on your car for a while, then check your mafs, there is a thin film of oil on the mafs? is k&n improperly handling the oil? this shouldn't be a debate. just giving some advise from experience. unless it's horrible advice, you can take it or you can ignore it.

K&N and MAF

I've had this concern for a while too. But what exactly happens when the MAF becomes contaminated with filter oil? Does the ECU interpret a low air flow and then incorrectly leans out the mixture (really bad!) Or will it simply throw a code and go into safe mode like it would if you had a mal/non functioning knock sensor?
Has anyone had any experience with the Apexi dry element, or the Green Filter that I've started hearing about?

It doesn't. It never happened to me. With the panel or my cone filters.
