So... who knows alarms?...

Well my Crimestopper Millennium FX pager from mb1 (thanks!) just arrived, and I want to give it a shot installing it myself since it doesn't look too hard. BTW I have a '96 GXE automatic.

So can anyone tell me where to find the following wires:
  • Ignition switch
  • Door switch
  • Hood switch
  • Trunk switch
  • Ground-when-armed

All I need to do is tap into these, run the power wires, and program the pager, right?

Thanks,
-Cyrus

No, but the pager is a stand-alone unit as well.

Looks too complicated for me. I'll just take it to my local audio shop and let them have the pain. Thanks anyways.

Crimestoppers are one of the worst alarms made. I see them all the time at my shop being swapped for DEI units.

**not flamming at all!

BTW: Vyrus your cars looking great man, i like the homepage pics, keep it up

Firstly, thanks for the compliments. I'm just trying to catch up to cars like yours.

As for the pager, I paid $35 shipped for it, so even if it is junk I couldn't care less! I know the guys at the install shop very well, and I am going to take it to them tomorrow for a quote. Since it's only 7 wires I'm not expecting anything over $100.

UPDATE...

Well I visited the shop today, and if you all say this price is fair I'll go back today or tomorrow to have it installed.

The shop said it would run $45 an hour and probably 2-3 hours to install it. He said it looked easy enough, but if tech support is needed that will add a lot of time. So is $90-$135 fair for a shop to install a pager system that I didn't buy from them?
Thanks,
-Cyrus

Well most shops I called said it will be between $100-$150. I know this shop does a very professional job and I know them so I prefer to go there. I also thought it would be around $80 but I guess if you don't buy it from the shop they like to jack you?

Hey cyrus, this thing should be very simple to install. I was able to install a basic alarm in my car, and it's been working great for almost a year. The hardest part is finding the wire, but once you see the right color you'll know thats the one, and just splice it. I have a file with the color and locations of the wires, i'll email it to you in a bit.

Thanks! I'll try installing it again but I'm not too good with electrical systems. I don't want to screw up the existing wires in my car.

I bet you'd do a better job than them too (especially since you know the Max so well), but it's just not possible. Oh well I scheduled an appointment for 10:00 AM tomorrow morning. For the record one guy (the one I don't like) was saying I will need an aftermarket trunk and hood switch as well because I don't have an aftermarket alarm. $25 a piece. I thought the Maxima came with them stock (I have keyless entry if that means anything)? Is he mistaken/lying or right?
Thanks

you have a stock hood pin that can be re-used for your new alarm and as far as the trunk there is a "trunk pin wire" located in the drivers kick panel that also can be used to trip the new alarm when its popped.

Hope that helps!
