Rear suspension idea- drag racing

I was watching this video http://www.gibson99.com/jason/temp/kcar_vs_supra.wmv and came up with an idea. I'm thinking about fabbing up a solid rear suspension for drag racing only, so there will be ZERO back end squat. This could be accomplished with threaded rod and plates in place of the rear struts assemblys. Of cousre the car is gonna ride like crap but thats not the point here. Since the rear wheels will have to be pulled, might as well run some pizza cutters back there for little resistance like 2 donut spares. Since I'm unemployed now, I have alot of time on my hands to do it.

you can use spring blockers from PDI cars. Would be easier and cheaper since they throw em away anyways. Ive/Weve been using this trick for over 5 years on FWD cars.

I use 2 hard rubber spacers about 1.5" high, split in the middle and held in place around the shock shaft with high quality hose clamps. Put them on the the car when its jacked up and when you drop it down there is absolutely no rear suspension movement.

This is why I can pull a 1.8 60', impossible without limiting rear suspension movement.

Its also only a 10 minute job at the track.

Eric, donut spares are illegal at the track. I pump up the rears to 55 psi.

Jim

PS I can't take credit for the idea it been around for years. There are some other ideas here.

so would it be better for those with agx's or koni's to put their shocks in the rear on a stiff setting? i know this isn't as efficient as putting rubber blocks. but same idea kind of.

pre delivery inspection vehicles. im not sure if all manufacters use them but when i used to do it for Toyota, alot of Camrys, some Celicas and other cars came with the rubber spring blockers that you have to remove. I juss kept them afterwards and we used them at the track.

My only concern with a solid rear suspention is the stress it will put on the chassis. I've thought about it too, but I think the Isolation blocks would be a better solution..... Pep boys sells them for like $5 a pair to put in the springs. They're normally used for towing purposes....
