Some pics of my fully detailed car
As some of you may know, I've fallen into the world of Autopia. At first I thought they were just plain insane, spending several hours prepping their paint surface, and even more to polish and wax it.
Well, I've caught the detailing bug, and here are my results:
http://www.autopia.ws/forums/showthr...451#post123451
BTW, it wasn't easy. I spent around 24+ hours of over the course of three weeks to acheive these results. Is it worth it? You bet it is!!

Nismo,
This was a backbreaking process that I would only do to my own car. If someone really wanted to pay me to do this, it would be quiet expensive due to the hours of repeated applications and buffing (I'd say I did about 30 full car applications of various items)

Vyrus,
Dude, your car has been a good insirpation for me. I really wanted my car to shine, so I took a visit to Autopia and I learned their secrets. To get the glass to shine, just use a simple glass polish. What I used though is a diluted application of Klasse All-In-One. You spray a microfiber towel a few times, then use a dime sized amount of the AIO and rub it into the glass. No steaking, no mess, perfect shine.

thanks for all of the compliments guys. I just wanted to pass on my steps to you just incase you guys wanted to go all out.

But what is AIO? However your glass looks awesome. Actually let me take that back - your car looks awesome. And that is one beautiful color.

That's what the wax is for.

But trust me TurDz, I've seen a lot of polished and detailed cars, and I can tell you one thing. The shine won't last. You will still have a nice shine in a week of two, but it will be nothing like the new-car shine you have now. Your car will look like a clean old-car again. The only way to keep it looking in showcar condition is for it to be a showcar, which is atleast wiped down daily and polished and waxed weekly. That's what I do because I'm so addicted, but I don't think it's worth it. You may not realize the cleaning my car gets to look so shiny... let me tell you about it. Wiped down DAILY. Washed weekly. Waxed bi-weekly. Polished montly or ever 3 weeks if needed. The door jambs and engine bay is even polished/waxed monthly. The wheels are taken off and cleaned ever two weeks. But I can't stop. I'm addicted like a drug-addict, I just can't put down the sponge.
It's not even fun anymore.-Cyrus
I agree with Vyrus, all that work is good for like one week till it rains.
I had my Millenia S for 3 yrs and never waxxed it and it looks as shiny as day one. Sometimes I dont believe in this wax deal since the clearcoat is getting better and better

I think you guys are making some conclusions too quickly. The stuff that I used, Klasse Sealant Glaze and Klasse All-In-One Paint Cleaner and Polish last for quite a while. It's not like the other polishes or waxes on the market.
The Klasse All-In-One provides a decent amount of protection, but its main purpose is to clean the car of any minor oxidation. I can guarantee that the shine that this stuff puts on will last for a few months if you wash it weekly or bi-weekly.
The Klasse Sealant Glaze is the kicker though. This is the stuff that adds a nice layer of acrylic protection which is heat resistant and last for 6+ months if you maintain your car with just a weekly wash. Lots of people on Autopia actually complain that you can't wash this stuff off, even with a Dawn dishwashing soap. It really is long lasting and resilient.
It is the wax that is very weak in terms of durability. Wax melts at a temperature of 180 degree F, and a car's paint surface in direct sunlight can reach up to 200 degrees. So for a wax, it will only last for about a month. If you use One Grand Blitz though, it is said to last much longer. I recommend that wax for anyone who waxes maybe monthly or bi-monthly.
ok after much searching, here areperfect examples of Klasse's durability:

"For all who care, I will post my own personal experiences one last time. On every car to which I've applied Klasse All-in-One or Klasse Sealant Glaze, water beads. Like crazy. For a long time."
"I used Klasse for the first time about 6 weeks ago (1 coat AIO, 2 coats SG with 24 hour wait time). My non clearcoat Supra still beads completely with same slickness after about 5 or 6 washes. My wintergreen Outback both sheets and beads. Overall I see no loss in protection and the cars look great after each wash."
Vyrus and BigDog, I hope you can trust me and believe me that using the Klasse system is for long term use, and if I maintain the car with just a wash a week, I'll keep the shine for many months to come.
I really didn't mean to sound like an ad for Klasse. But its one of the rare items on the market that outlasts the others. Other very, very good system are Zaino, Blackfire, and Platinum, though I've never had experiences with them yet.

(when I only used wax)
But now that I've found out about Klasse (especially during my stages of Sealant Glaze layering) I take joy when it rains. It gives the SG time to cure, which is very important.
I'm confident that my car could last through a California rainy season and still look good afterward. I wish I could link all of you to a thread about how a corolla was not washed for 6 months, but was was Klassed before those 6 months of on and off rain.
Anyway, I'll be sure to bump this thread up next month and show more pics, hopefully with a decent camera.
I just spent 3-4 hours the other day cleaning the max top and bottom(outside, and a bit of the inside) its so clean I took pics(will post tomorrow).. Lets just say the sound of thunder didnt make me smile much...
