Hi-
I love the way the max looks, except the rediculously huge fender to tire gap. Why does nissan insist on doing this to the Max. Lets face it it looks dumb. No other nissans have that kind of gap. Look at a 300zx next time you are in a parking lot. Its got a normal "stock" gap. I would have much prefered to leave the stock suspention alone. Im a slow poke, no 40mph white knuckle turns for me. I loved the ride when I bough the max. But i was forced to spend 300 dollars to make my car look normal. If you look at almost any BMW the wheels are neatly tucked in the wheel wells, it gives it a much lower apearance. It looks sporty and agressive. My lowered max now just looks normal. You could fit some big 4x4 swamp tires under my 4th generation's fenders if you were so inclined. My dad just picked up a 00' Se and they did it again to the new body style. I dont understand it at all. Who here agress that the max would look way better if nissan tightened up the fender gap with a little extra sheet metal.

I agree.....

I don't know any specific reason why it is this way, but it sure is ugly. I suppose it's just a by-product of the design (suspension, fender shape, etc).

Look at the bright side though- For $300 you can cosmetically separate your car from the bizillion of other Maximas on the road.

You should look at the 2nd generation DSM Eclipse/Talon. With the base models with the 185/70r14 rims/tires, there was a almost truck-like wheel gap. The larger tires of the turboed models reduced the wheel gap a lot.

I understand I think that they should have a gap that big...

think about it... if there was no gap then we would not be able to put huge rims on them or lower them as much... plus, it makes our cars look much better than the stock ones. I can't wait to redo my suspension this spring...

The wheels gap and big rims are not related. When you put on bigger wheels you just use smaller tires. This is to maintain the stock rolling radius. The only good the big wheel gap would do is if you wanted to put on 20" wheels and like 235/50/20's or some other size larger than stock rolling radius. This would make the max so slow. It would also mess up the final drive ratio.

but the whole reason to get 20's is because its major bling bling...20's are jus for show, no go

but i do agree the huge wheel wells do look strange, gonna get some 17's and drop my max with Intrax springs(please no flames)...and see if that helps...

I can't wait to drop mine next summer. Hopefully the KYB AGXs will be out by then cuz I'm looking to get those and H&Rs. Perhaps even some 17s or 18s, if finances allow.
