New best time at the track

I had 6 runs and my best times ranged from 14.5 to 15.5
Heres my new best run:

R/T ... 818
60 .... 2.436
330.... 6.305
1/8 .... 9.486
MPH .. 79.11
1000 ... 12.191
1/4 ...... 14.497
MPH .... 99.42

Compared to my old best which took place on a 45 degree day(80 today) I gained 1.4 MPH and my ET droped .09. Now thats not much but there was a lot more heat today and humidity. The gains can be attributed to my Y-pipe and UDP I guess. My trap speeds are getting very close to 100 MPH these days . My 60' still suck, no matter what I did I would either bog, wheel hop or my clutch would just slip, my 18' rims and kumhos are just not meant for the track. BTW My best time is with my clutch slipping.

FYI I had a 3rd of a tank of gas, spare tire and my tires where set at 32 PSI all around. I basicaly just ran my car the way it always is.
Hopefully next year I will get some better times, i'm all done for this season.

Ohh yeah I got a 14.8 with a 2.7 60' too Thats pretty damn good considering how slow my 60 was.

Let me know what you think

you have the trap speeds for 13s. The 60' is killing you though. That's around what I usually get for my 60'.

Not bad Ethan, just gotta get those 60' lower
Gotta go to the track when it's cold out. Summer time+humidity=bad

nice times ethan, where did you run i think LVD would be closer to you then NED and damn you call me when you want to do cus i will go and we will show them what maxima's are made of. i don't have yuour traps speeds but i can launch my car, my worst 60 foot time so far was a 2.39 and when i get 2.30 or 2.2x i'm still mad cus i know i can do better, guess those tires were worth it. if your 60 foot's were lower your traps wouldn't be as high, you need to get those 60's down. can damn it, call me we are going when i'm on vaca.

Nope I havent checked LVD, I always thought it was even further away then NED. Tue-fri afternoon are usually good for me. Don't worry about the CD, theres no rush . As for the plexi glass, get that to me ahead of time that way I will have my lights ready for you, I don't want to do it while your over Maybe I will just pick some plexi up and make it..

Nice time!
No wonder your car is a highway monster. 100mph trap pretty much with a so so 60ft. Get some light 16's and some nice tires and you should see 100mph+ trap and 13's

Just need some smaller wheels but you already have the SSRS duuh!!and those are not heavy, the good thing about the 18s is you wont sit there and spin all thru first and 2nd gear. But good times. In cooler weather your time will drop a bit more. A good clutch will also help, my opinion while you are at it drop a lighter flywheel!

nail a 2.1XX 60' like steve did and you'll be in the 13s for sure. mess around with your tire pressures next time.

Dang Ethan, your 2k2 is a topend ****

From my experience at the track, when I get better 60 foots (2.2s vs 2.3s), my trap speeds stay the same and sometimes increase. I rarely see a difference of .5mph between runs regardless of 60'. With some decent traction and cooler weather you'll be looking at lower 14s and possibly 13s if you rip off a really good 60' (2.0).

You're really get me excited about putting on my VI tommorrow night. Too bad it's an oven here in Kansas City right now (95+ everyday for the past 4 weeks ). I'm shooting for 100mph traps myself.

i really don't think it's the wheels esp with a car like ours that has REALLY bad traction problems. the wheels actually keep us from spinning out of control and both of our wheels are lighter then stock but my tires are stickier prolly why i can nail low 2.3x's and 2.2x's i still don't kow how i did that 2.16 at Island the first time i ever dragged my car and back to back to it must have been the track.

It's the FWD that's killing Ethans times. I wonder what kind of 60ft. times he'd get if he was RWD....1.7? 1.9? It seems like it's drivetrains that are holding us back from getting deep into the 13's N/A.

Or getting in the 13's at all NA Soon enough though, soon enough..

Dave I will be looking forward to hearing your results when you install your VI. Don't get to excited though, my max will always trap higher then yours

Steve my max actualy feels a good bit faster off the line with my stock 17's. I almost put my 17's on before I went to the track but I did not want to get my self dirty

my car feels better out of the whole with my 18's and these tires, i honestly think it's the tires. your have Kumho's which are decent tires but i think my tires border on Drag Radials i have to TRY to get them to totally break traction and just spin they fight the whole time for traction esp when they get warm. my stock tires where just so horrible maybe if the stock rims had some Drag radials. wanna split a set of 17's just find some light ones. i'd say 16's but i put my brakes on last night and BTW OMFG i love them already and they still need to be bled again NO FADE and i beat them hard last night. and they look hot too, my car is at nissan for service today and i'm just gonna pay them to bleed them.

Congrats man! I think you have the highest n/a trap speed. My best was a 99.32 so you got me by a tenth of a mph. Also, my time with that trap of 14.230 was with a 2.2 60 ft. Cant wait to get back to the track.

i still want to know why my trap speeds are so low, i had like a 94 with my 14.3 and now i have 96's with my 14.4's and 14.5's my 60 foots are ok low but my traps should be higher, my car pulls on the highway hard but i can't get a good trap speed.

Gotta run Emax on the highway on a roll with even starts. See how badly he pulls on you?

Steeve if you look at your dyno plot your car peaks early and then the power drops off rapidly. Some 2002's are like yours and other hold there power a bit longer. With my mods I have like 210 FWHP at 6500 RPM, thats a huge difference over other 2002's.

Ohh nevermind Steve your car does hold it's power pretty well to redline. I think a while back I confused your TQ band with your HP one I don't know why you don't trap higher then? Maybe becuase you have the PSI on your tires low?

EVERY track is different. Even at my track, the left lane is slower by a consistent 1.5-2.0 mph vs the right lane. Until you guys run each other at the same track, you really don't know who will be pulling who.

In that case more than once also switching lanes between runs?

Exactly. A few years ago in my VW, I ran on Friday night at one track and Saturday at another. I changed nothing. I got the same 60 fts at each track. But, one track gave 2+ mph higher trap speed as well as about 0.15 sec lower ET than the other for no reason that I could ever come up with.

Dave

ya that's what i figured we're gonna have to do i'm gonna meet up with emax when i'm on vacation and hang out for a day and i'm sure we'll have our share of racing doing on, safely however. maybe it is because of my low low tires pressure, 20psi is what i run at the track. most FWD's can't get out of the hole cus they don't have enought power too, and all i can do is spin. if i could just stick a launch i would be 14.1. once it cools off a little more i'll be at the track like it's my job.

and Ewok, you going down
