my truck squels everytime i use the a/c. I think its the belt but could be wrong. Any ideas? Sorry for being off topic.

Probably the belt needs adjustment, because I believe that there is a clutch on your compressor. Meaning, when you don't have the A/C running, the belt is still spinning and the clutch is disengaged. Once you hit the A/C, the clutch engages and you put a load on the drive belt. It sounds like at that point the belt is slipping, making a squaling noise. My car squeals when it's rained. The dealer adjusted it and it still does it. Pain in the ***! I don't like adjusting belts because it's hard to get a lever by which you can move the alternator etc., at least I found it to be a pain with Volvos. I've never attempted it with the Maxima.
