need tires..how are online stores?

browsed 'tirerack.com' and some of the tires look pretty good - i'm looking for something around $100 - $110 because i'm cheap (actually, i have little money and will go on credit cards ) my tires are just about out.

how are these online places? prices seem very reasonable. i don't buy tires often, but how are tire shops... are they reasonable since they do the balancing and installs?

if i buy online, how much do tire shops charge to put them on? i'm in socal.

tia.

I got my rims from TireRack. They are a excellent company, wheels came in 3 days. Ony like $12 for shipping for all 4 rims. I had some problems with my lug nuts stripping and they overnighted me 12 lug nuts for free!!

I got 235/40/18 ZR-rated from them and when it came to getting them mounted the local Goodyear wanted $35 per tire. I said fugg that .... went to a local gas station with a good balancing machine and he charged me $15 to mount and balance each tire. So look for a local shop with a good machine.

I've had good luck with tirerack, and the Costco near my house mounts tires for $9/corner.

I got both my rims and tires from tirerack, and I would definitely recommend them to anyone. Great customer service too.

get a price from tirerack, go to NTB. NTB will match tirerack's prices. Tirerack has good prices on the tire, but you gotta pay shipping too.

I have used Tirerack on 2 different occasions, ordering 4 tires each time. Both times it was a painless process, got my tires within 2 days after ordering. Shipping was $16 for 4 tires. I don't know how they can ship tires so cheap and make any money. If you go to Tire Racks web site you can check on affiliated installers in your zip code. Installation and balancing of new tires plus disposal of old tires cost $30.00 total for all 4. The last installer I went to was outstanding, hand torqued wheels and put anti seizure compound on all lug nuts. First time I ever tipped a tire installer. Since have sent this guy a lot of business. You can also drop ship to installer so you don't have to lug tires around.

Wow, they hooked you up. They charged me over $50 to ship 4 rims/tires. Or maybe you mean $12 each.

Actually I do have connections at TireRack because of my affiliation with Bridgestone Tires. I got my rims at a really low price, but the shipping was at no special deal.
I am only a couple hours away from their distribution center in Indiana. I almost drove up their and picked them up.
I'll look at my invoice again, but I know it was less than 20$
