Ok the car is going into the shop to be repainted (black) soon. I'm having a hard time deciding on whether or not I should have them paint the chrome window trim and the door handles. Normally I would say YES! but the trim and handles match my chrome rims pretty well. What is your opinion folks?

here's some pics to check out. just click the link. thanks.

Keep the chrome. It looks classy especially on a black car with chrome wheels.

get rid of it

chrome looks tacky on cars like maximas,

i blacked out my chrome trim and my door handles on my black 98 GXE. Looked a lot better in my eyes.

Just my opinion
others may feel different

i suggest you just try it and see how you like it... the trimbrite blackout tape from pepboys is like 3-4$ a roll, 2 rolls are enough for both sides with some left over.
then I got some vinyl from Shadow at Ap-signworks.com it has been on my door handles for over 6 months through rain, snow, cold and warm weather in NYC and it is still stuck as good as new. The vinyl cost me like 2-3$ per square foot.

So you're looking at under 15$ to black out all of the chrome.
It will look professional too. I didnt even cut the door handle pieces out to shape, just cut something a little bigger in 30 seconds and smacked it on, then bent the extra under the door handle. The trimbrite tape was trickier and took me a good hour or so but you cannot tell that it is tape in your life. Much cheaper and better than paying a body shop 100 times that amount to paint it. Plus you can always take the vinyl and tape right off if you do not like it and go right back to chrome.
If your max was white, I'd say don't bother, the chrome is less visible and blends in.. but on a dark colored car... chrome is right in your face.

I say try it out
you will like it

I agree with Vyrus. Chrome matches with the Chrome wheels.

U have to black out the door handles at least. They throw the lines of the car off to the eye. The stuff around the door is whatever, but the handles must go. Even if u dont get them painted now, and then regret it, do what i did and get black vinly and just put it over. You cant tell it vinly and it does not get sracthed at all and it cost like $6 for all 4 drs. Best cost/appreacne mod i ever did.
