Does your insurance know about your mods?

I was looking over some forms that my insurance company sent to me and there is one line asking for what modifications have been done and how much.

Anyone look into this, and how it effects your coverage and rate?

Nope.

I'm afraid to tell them because I think my rates would double. I'm only 17, so if they knew I had a $2000 stereo (and that's stereo alone), my rates would have to go up.

My insurance is already pretty high (17 yrs. old and I live in NJ), so I'm afraid to tell them. I just hope I don't get broken into, stolen, or into an accident and damage any of the expensive stuff.

I wouldn't tell the insurance company about any performance mods at all. For stuff like stereo's I'd only tell them if you want them to replace he components in case of theft.
