Suggestions:

1) The 02 Sensor is unrelated, but does need to be addressed.
2) The likely issue regarding your transmission is related to your Throttle Position Sensor being broken, etc, as it can cause the transmission codes. 'Tis best to replace the TPS first and then go from there rather than going ***** out replacing the tranny.
3) The actual scan (Pxxxx) or DTC (xxxx) codes would be more helpful for diagnosis.

Regarding #2, this came up in the past week or so. This thread:

Has a post in there by yours truly where I allude to the possibility of the TPS needing replacement INSTEAD of the transmission being the problem. Check those links out for the part number for a new TPS and how to install it. Member StephenD has an excellent post in there that explains it well.

Most likely, you need an O2 sensor anyway.

What I would do is replace the TPS and maybe the O2 sensor, reset the ECU and see if the check engine light returns. You're out probably $100 to $150 if you do both of those..........

five speed swap
i agree wif bill too, swap out the tsp then go from there, if you can see if anyone is willing you to "borrow" the tsp so you could plug that in and see if you still throw codes, if it works, then go buy another tsp, if not then work from there.

tsp = tps

Good suggestion mingo.....both on the "swapping" and the 5-speed swap.

Uh, replace the TPS. Then reset the ECU, as stipulated to in my first post here.

the tps is the throttle position sensor, it shouldn't be hard to remove and reinstall.
