Car Alarm Programming Help Needed

Ok.. Here's the dilemna...

I believe I have a Viper 550HF also with an Auto-Start.
I recently had a system put in and the alram now doesn't work. The only thing I can think of is that when he disconnected the negative battery terminal, the alarm reset itself. Is this true?

a. How do i reprogram it?
b. The remote that came with the alarm (2 button red light) also doesn't work properly, can i use a different remote with a green light?

the alternative remote is also a DEI like the original, only difference, green light, more buttons.

I called a place and they said that i needed to get a new transmitter with a red light and that would be about $40 and an additional $20 to reprogram. Any suggestions?

thanks!!!

they don't reprogram when the battery is disconnected. Did you check all your wires? Is the led on or blinking?
